MMV and Sega test your patience with countdown teasers

Don’t you just love these screens that stare at you in the face, giving you some obscure hint as to what’s coming next from a company? Yeah, me either. But it seems like Japan loves to do these, because both Marvelous Entertainment and Sega are running these at the same time.

Marvelous Entertainment is one of those companies that has their hands in everything from anime (Gunslinger Girl) to videogames (Valhalla Knights 2). Well, their counter is counting down to another nine days or so from now, with the image of a clock floating in mid-air, featuring the tri-force symbol on it.

An interesting note about the clock from G-Para: It completes a rotation every 30 seconds, and when it does, the second hand returns to its original position. I can’t give any speculation as to what this is, but the title of the page “invites hope” — or at least that’s the best way I can think to translate it off the top of my head.

The one from Sega simply says that a project from Takao Miyoshi will be announced soon — in a little more than 10 days from now. It’s got a mushroom up top, as you can see, and it shakes when you hover over it. Also, there’s the url: pole.sega.jp. Exciting, no?

Well, a quick search for Miyoshi brings up his work on various Team Sonic projects and Phantasy Star Universe. Perhaps Team Sonic is going to steal a play from Capcom and go retro, making a new Sonic game that stays true to the original title’s appeal?

No, of course they won’t. But, that doesn’t stop you guys from endlessly speculating! Go, speculate away! A chocolate-covered potato chip for the one who guesses what the project is.
