“The massively multiplayer online game will allow players to emulate the infamous monster hunter Van Helsing as they track down monsters in celebrated scenes based on the series of horror films distributed by Universal pictures,” says a press release sent out this morning.

The game is said to combine an MMO with survival horror elements, and will feature the well-known faces of Frankenstein’s monster, The Mummy, Dracula, The Wolf Man, and more. Locations will include the Vatican, Dracula’s Castle, and home of Mr. Gill Man Creature Dude himself, The Lagoon.

This Universal Monsters virtual world is set to launch in 2011, and will be part of SEE Virtual World’s Entropia Universe. Earlier this year, SEE revealed Planet Michael, a universe based on the life and works of Michael Jackson.
