Miyamoto will never, ever retire

0

Shigeru Miyamoto may be the top dog now when it comes to developers at Nintendo, but even he knows that all good things must come to an end. That end for him isn't retirement though, it's death. In an epic recent interview he explained that even after being retired he would never stop making games.

“Well, I am one of the company workers and the company has to retire me some time. So from that perspective, yes I may have to retire from Nintendo some day. But when I look around and see how aged cartoonists continue to work on their manga and how movie directors create new movies all the time, I understand that they would never retire. And by the same token, I guess I will still be making games somehow. The only question is whether the younger people will be willing to work with me at that far point in the future."

Picture this: After years of producing Nintendo's best games, Miyamoto is considered old and out of touch. Nintendo retires him and he disappears for a few years slightly disgraced. Suddenly one of the greatest indie platformers ever made appears online. It's Miyamoto, returned as on old master.

My American love of an underdog needs this story to happen.
