Microsoft now accepts bitcoin for Windows and Xbox purchases

Trendy

We get it; you're a hip cat. You got some of those bitcoins to your name. You also have a Microsoft account for purchasing content from the Windows and Xbox stores. The latter isn't so much because you're cool; it's because of your desire for a convenient marketplace for digital wares.

What if there were a way to trade bitcoin for Microsoft's goods and services? That'd be some Blade Runner shit right there! Wait. That's an option now? Nevermind; that's some 2014 shit!

Microsoft announced that starting today, it'd accept bitcoin in the US through BitPay. "For us, this is about giving people options and helping them do more on their devices and in the cloud,” said Eric Lockard, Microsoft's corporate vice president of Universal Store. “The use of digital currencies such as bitcoin, while not yet mainstream, is growing beyond the early enthusiasts. We expect this growth to continue and allowing people to use bitcoin to purchase our products and services now allows us to be at the front edge of that trend.”

While bitcoin can be used to purchase Windows Store and Xbox Store goods -- including games, music, and movies -- the new plan doesn't encompass all Microsoft products. Still, it's the trendiest way you could imagine buying the new Taylor Swift album.
