Microsoft: Kinect launch to ‘definitely’ outsell Wii launch

Microsoft’s official Mouth of Sauron, Aaron Greenberg, has once again demonstrated just how confident his company is in Kinect, by claiming that its launch will “definitely” outperform the Wii’s debut.

“We haven’t given any projections beyond this holiday, but this will be the largest launch we’ve ever had as a business,†says Greenberg. “We’ll definitely sell more sensors than the Wii sold when it launched or the Xbox 360 sold when it launched.â€

Watching Microsoft market Kinect has been quite interesting, as the gadget’s rise into the mainstream has been so carefully manufactured. Without seeing any games and witnessing little more than a few insubstantial concepts, mainstream consumers have rushed to buy Kinect simply because the right people told them they needed it.

If only companies could use this public manipulation for the forces of good and push some videogames that really needed the attention, rather than stuff like this.
