Metroid Dread has proven itself to be one of the most celebrated games of the fall. Not only did it review very well across the board, but it’s also proven to be a hit at retail with big sales in Japan and the UK. For longtime fans of the series, it’s really satisfying to see it receive this level of recognition after so many years of waiting for it to become a reality. I still have yet to dive into my copy, but if you’re unsure about the game, Nintendo has released a Metroid Dread demo you can download today.

I just want to take a moment to really appreciate that jack o’lantern and would love to see it paired up with a Master Chief pumpkin and an Isaac Clarke pumpkin.

For those unaware, Metroid Dread is a direct sequel to 2002’s Metroid Fusion and serves as the conclusion of the Metroid saga that began with the release of the original game on the NES back in 1986. The series as a whole has seen a boost in popularity since Dread was announced, with previous entries on the 3DS and Wii U finding new life on their respective eShops. I actually just went back and played through Metroid: Zero Mission on my Wii U and you better believe that game holds up well.

While Samus’ sidescrolling days may be behind her, this won’t be her last adventure on Switch as Metroid Prime 4 is still in development at Retro Studios. Hopefully, there are no more production snafus with the game and we actually get a good look at it in the next couple of months.
