Mass Effect 2 teaser trailer is bananas

Whoa! BioWare just melted my brain. Literally. Globs of pink, sticky goo are currently leaking out of my ear. I haven’t the slightest idea how I’m writing this paragraph right now, but it’s happening. And I’ll tell you what else is happening — BioWare’s teaser trailer for Mass Effect 2.

The opening of the vid reorients you with some of the missions and friends you met in Mass Effect as the faceless Commander Shepherd. The presentation may be all blue boxes and friendly text, but there’s a hell of a twist at the end. 

Shepherd’s “status” is revealed as “Killed in Action.”

I’m too busy trying to clean up my brain goo to analyze this properly, however, this is certainly a surprise. It also begs a few questions. Is this just a simple plot element? Will our stats transfer to a new protagonist? Will we play a clone of Shepherd? Robocop program confirmed?

I don’t know. I need to watch this four billion more times.
