Lost Wave Race Easter Egg makes game talk s**t

In what may be the greatest discovery in modern gaming, a deeply hidden Easter egg has been found within the GameCube version of Wave Race: Blue Storm. Yes, the game that was released in 2001.

The code (which you can find after the jump) changes the announcer’s voice to a guy who basically talks s**t at you the whole time, along with changing the turbo sound to a little girl who says “meow, meow.”

“Is that the best you could do?” the announcer asks before adding that you’re a “waste of time,” “pathetic,” and “weak.”

Tips & Tricks Codebook editor tells Wired that the code seems “pretty elaborate,” using a different password entry system than the rest of the codes in the game. “Somebody must have want it buried deep.” Thinking about going out and buying a used GameCube and a copy of the game just to input the code. Seriously.

Via NeoGAF user “RaoulDuke”:

  • Go to Options and Audio Settings.
  • There’s a waveform display at the bottom that changes if you press the Z Button—tap Z until the waveform looks like vertically rising fog.
  • On the D-Pad, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, X, Z. You’ll hear an audio cue if you did it right.
  • Back out to the front end.
  • Start a race. Pick the first guy.
  • The pit crew voice will now be some dude who basically insults you the entire time. Also, the turbo becomes a little girl’s voice saying “meow meow”
