In an effort to get more eyes looking at the Humble Indie Bundle, a collection of five independent games that you can pay as much — or as little — as you want for, I decided to share Wolfire Games’ breakdown of the contributions so far.
By the time you read this, the stats will have changed. Keep that in mind, please! Back when there were about 53,500 contributions to the sale, it was discovered by Wolfire that Mac and Linux users were paying on average 40 and 100 percent more, respectively, than Windows users.
This makes it look as if Mac and Linux users are significantly more generous with their donations on average — possibly to show their desire for more developer support — than those of us running Windows. Of course, there are a few factors that make these results less black and white.
Stuff like how much the top, say, one-hundred contributors for each platform paid and how many people comprise each group. At any rate, it’s an interesting notion to think about. Also, some kind-hearted individual graciously forked over $1,000. Cheers to you, mysterious stranger.
