League of Legends streamer banned for fake swatting

Player faked a police raid

Swatting: the act of calling armed police to an address with a fake threat of a violent crime in progress. Generally, this is done to people streaming video games live on Twitch.

Two things you should not do: Swat, or fake being swatted.

Over the past couple of years, League of Legends player Trick2G has become very popular on Twitch. As well as streaming competitive games of his own, he was also well liked for pitting less skilled members of his fanbase against each other on stream, before explaining where each player was making mistakes and how they could improve.

Trick2G is now banned from streaming on Twitch. Why? Because he faked being swatted live on stream.

Speaking about the fake swatting after the event was over, Trick2G stated:

To take that stream ending serious is absurd, Trick was laughing, the person used was NOT in disguise and was the same person who was on the stream all day yesterday setting up cameras and assisting the stream. The ending was scheduled for 3PM which again if thought process was used in any way, one would know that a swat team would not wait until the end of a stream to engage.

We don’t have to always be politically correct to have a sense of humor and we don’t have to hide the fact that we think something is funny simply because someone might not.

While the ban was initially reported to be four months long, Twitch has since stated that this is not the length of the ban, but that the ban is not permanent.

So, what do you think of this? I personally feel faking a swatting is in potentially bad taste, but I also understand that his community may well have understood his sense of humour better than I do. Very curious what you all think of this situation, so get commenting.
