Konami’s 3D arcade racer: Road Fighters

Ha! Road Fighters. Great name, don’t you think?

Konami has announced their next 3D racing arcade game, Road Fighters. It will come to the arcade in a cabinet that has a steering wheel and a seat with drop-down 3D glasses. You’re free to switch between 2D and 3D with a button press, but what’s the fun of playing this game if you’re not going to go all the way. Spectators won’t be left out of the action as the rear of the seat is also equipped with a second 3D lens set to they can watch on.

As for the game itself, there’s licensed cars like the Mini Cooper S, Audi R8 and Ford GT racing on street tracks set to over 100 tracks of insane BEMANI music. And is that Shunya Yamashita art? This is a game I need at home!

Road Fighters will also include an online multiplayer mode that is supposed to link up gamers across Japan when this game drops in arcades later this month.

This is Konami’s 3D arcade follow-up to the amazing Metal Gear Arcade. Again, I truly hope they’re thinking about the home console market when making these titles. Fun things like these are perfect for early 3D TV adopters.
