Kids born after 1998 are better at Pokemon than you

0

I can still remember way back to when I was ten years old, lying on my parents' kitchen table, playing Pokémon. Ten years later, I'm going to the regional championships alongside Ben PerLee to cover an event dedicated to people who have the burning desire to become world champion Pokémon masters.

The event was part of the current Pokémon national tournament completing its circuit around the United States, collecting contestants to compete in the World Championships, set to be held in Hawaii. Here's the catch: the division between "Juniors" and "Seniors" is 1998. That means kids born after 1998 have their own dedicated division, and equal opportunities to travel to Hawaii with all expenses paid to play Pokémon.

Sound crazy? It is, but don't take my word for it. Hit the jump to see these kids in action, check out our interview with J.C. Smith, Consumer Marketing Director, and even hear from the "seniors" who entered the competition. If you're interested in seeing the winners, including the eight-year-old who won the Juniors tournament, follow the jump. Don't forget to find out when this tournament will be coming to a town near you at the official Pokémon website.
