Jade Raymond joins EA to open new studio

Overseeing Visceral Games as well

Jade Raymond, formerly of Ubisoft, has taken a post at Electronic Arts to open a new studio.

"I’m happy to announce that I’m joining Electronic Arts and opening Motive, a new development studio in my home town of Montreal, Canada," Raymond and EA announced today.

The studio will be based out of the same location as BioWare's Montreal satellite.

Raymond indicates Motive wants to develop "incredible action experiences," incubate "entirely new IP," and take on other amazing projects -- the first of which will be Amy Hennig’s Star Wars game.

In addition to working alongside the former Uncharted director on the new Star Wars title, Raymond will also be overseeing its developer, Dead Space studio Visceral Games.

Raymond left Ubisoft last October after spending 10 years with the company. There, she worked as executive producer on Assassin's Creed IIWatch Dogs, and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Raymond also helped found Ubisoft Toronto in 2009, where she served as managing director.
