It’s not like we could expect a Sony second party like Insomniac to claim that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII is better, but nevertheless, marketing manager James Stevenson made a very bold claim when he simply said, outright, that Final Fantasy XIII is superior on the PS3. He also threw in a disparaging remark about the Wii.

“PS3 is having a rockin’ 1st q: MAG, Heavy Rain, White Knight Chronicles, and soon MLB10:The Show, GOWIII and the superior version of FFXIII,” he Tweets. “… Fair enough, the 360 also got Mass Effect 2, now one of my all-time favorites from this gen. Plenty of good gaming. Except on Wii.”

Stevenson never quantified his statement or added why XIII is superior, but we do of course know that the game will be uncompressed on the PS3, as well as included on a single BD as opposed to the three DVDs on the Xbox 360 version. While I think the differences between the two versions will be negligible at best, technically, Stevenson is right.

However, it doesn’t matter which version has the minuscule technical edge. It matters who is going to buy it, and for what system. One cannot also discount the possibility that some gamers will want the title on 360 just for the Achievements as well. So, this begs the question: Does Final Fantasy XIII‘s PS3 superiority influence your purchasing decision or not?
