Nine Inch Nails - "The Perfect Drug"

Followed by my favorite band of all time, is my second favorite music video of all time. I’ve embedded the special version of Nine Inch Nails’ "The Perfect Drug" video above, which highlights some neat “making-of” moments from some key set pieces. You just don’t see this sort of production value in music videos these days -- luckily, with the internet lending itself so well to video now, we no longer have to rely on the MTVs of the world to highlight such great works of art.

The music video for "The Perfect Drug" totally transformed me back in 1997 and began my path to do what I do for a living. Not long after that in the same year, I played Metal Gear Solid on the original PlayStation and it wouldn’t take long until I blended both of my loves
into one solid piece of motion 8 years later. I may have been born on a summer day in 1983, but 1997 was definitely the year where I learned who I wanted to be. Deep shit, son.

[embed]152636:23972[/embed]

Kanye West - "Flashing Lights"
He may be the industry’s biggest douchebag and his diet is made up of fish sticks, but I undoubtedly believe the man is a masterful producer and artist. Referencing everything from Jawas to sports cars, Kanye West in my opinion is one of the defining artists of our generation when it comes to universally accepted rap music. Jay-Z discovered him and in return he’s helped perfect the Jay-Z sound, with sick tracks like "Encore" and "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)."

Honorable mentions (producers): Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Don Gilmore, Martin Kierszenbaum, Robin Beanland, Ron Wasserman, Ryan Tedder & The Neptunes (aka...)

[embed]152636:23975[/embed]

N.E.R.D. - "Spaz"
The dynamic trio consisting of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo, and vocal partner Shay Haley make up Nothing Ever Really Dies. It's another masterful producing team that has created beats for Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Britney Spears, Nelly, and Busta Rhymes -- just to name a few. This talented team has quietly been dishing out beats and launching career’s since the ’90s and have recently become household names.

I religiously purchase anything and everything that is produced by them.

[embed]152636:23976[/embed]

Michael Jackson - "Scream"
If Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" was an epic piece of music video history, "Scream" would be, in my opinion, its well deserved futuristic sequel. Holding the Guinness World Record for the most expensive music video ever at $7 million to produce, Jackson’s "Scream" is not only my favorite MJ track, but my favorite music video of all time.

A perfect blend of rock and pop, Mark Romanek's directed black and white space epic is any music video director’s candy shop, followed by Tina Landon’s amazing choreography. Can you believe this was shot almost 15 years ago?
