With Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, inXile Entertainment hopes to update the classic cooperative dungeon crawl experience. The game ships with its own set of dungeon crawls, tied with a deep narrative that should have players exploring and killing for hours.
What do you do once your done? Well, you create your own dungeons, of course. That’s where “The Crucible” comes in, a set of tools that players can use to create (and then share online) their own dungeon experiences. Within each dungeon you’ll be able to create a series of interconnected arenas, customizing everything from the weapons loadout to variables like gravity, spawned enemies, and more.
I had a chance to hop into the creator for a bit, and was easily and quickly able to produce a dungeon with no experience with the editor. It’s simple enough that anyone can pick it up (you can even randomize an entire dungeon at the press of a button), but seems to have enough depth to allow for creation of some interesting crawls.
It’s probably easier to see “The Crucible” in action to get a feel for what it can do, so check out the video for more details. Hunted: The Demon’s Forge is out May 31 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
