Here's how to unlock My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and amass Points

A brand new game

Let's cut to the chase. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Picross is out. Even though it costs 1000 "Platinum Coins," you want it, right? Just log into the new My Nintendo system first, and follow these instructions.

Go ahead and link your Nintendo ID, or sign in under your existing ID for starters. At the bottom of the page you'll see "missions" -- click that, and take a look at what's on offer. Platinum Points are the meat of the currency system, and what you'll use to unlock most of the big rewards like games and discounts. Right off the bat users can link Facebook, Google+, and Twitter accounts for points.

You get 30 points each for signing into Miiverse and the eShop, both of which are weekly rewards, and the former of which can be done online through your browser. Don't forget to click on the spare change on the floor of the top of your screen too for a weekly bonus. You can also locate the "secret mission" on the homepage for 10 extra coins. Go to the bottom right and find the block -- click on it, and your Mii will be holding a gift. Continue clicking on the Mii and you'll get the reward (thanks woopywoo!).

From there if you pre-registered for My Nintendo, you should have somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 Platinum Points, but you're done with your sign-in bonuses this week, so you'll have to resort to Miitomo. Link your Nintendo Account with the service, link Facebook and Twitter, and add a friend using the local method on the app (this is basically the StreetPass of Miitomo), then complete the dailies. As a reminder, Miitomo Coins also count as Platinum.

Now you should have roughly 935 Platinum Points. Again, all of your one-time bonuses and weekly sign-ins are spent. From there, you'll have to go for the daily challenges (change clothes, give three answers, listen to friend's answers 10 times, get five hearts, and get five comments). Doing that tomorrow would bring users up to 970 Platinum Points with an average rate of 35 per day -- meaning, you could theoretically get Picross by Saturday. Or even sooner if you check your email, as former Club Nintendo owners have been getting codes to redeem for 200 Platinum Points.

Note that Nintendo is trying to steer you away from bigger rewards with minigame tickets for Miitomo and the like, which essentially amount to gambling for new items. I'm not your Dad though so spend your points on what you want!
