Halo: Master Chief Collection's PC public test has been pushed back

No new date has been settled on

343 Industries has announced that the first public tests for Halo: Master Chief Collection's PC ports won't be happening this month. While it was previously hinted that they might begin in late April, Halo community director Brian Jarrard has now confirmed that isn't the case (especially since it is April 30).

In an update on the Halo Insiders website, Jarrard wrote, "I know excitement and anticipation is off the charts and everyone here inside the studio shares it as well, but this is a really complicated project and we all agree that quality trumps everything else and we need to bring MCC to PC at the bar Halo fans and PC players expect and demand."

Explaining further, Jarrard wrote, "One of the team's main priorities to support PC flighting is getting the mouse/keyboard controls feeling as good as possible...for example, in yesterday's playtest build, the full UI and functionality to remap keys isn't in yet so if you want to change defaults, it requires launching a separate application. That works for now, but isn't a viable experience for any kind of external flighting."

For the moment, no new timeframe has been given for when the playtest will occur. Jarrard did mention that 343 will be showing off footage today, which is sure to quell some fears that fans may have. The footage will mainly be from Halo: Reach, which lines up with past comments about a staggered release on PC.
