Good move: OnLive drops its monthly fee

Having to pay a monthly fee on top of paying full price for games you would lose upon unsubscribing from OnLive is the reason why I — and I have to assume many of you lovely folks as well — haven’t tried the cloud gaming service out yet; it’s all futuristic and scary.

Recent news on the OnLive front is that the monthly $14.95 fee is no more. You still have to pay for games, sure, but now the setup is slightly less frightening. On the OnLive blog, founder and CEO Steve Perlman touts the instant-play demos as something to get excited over.

Personally, I like that you can spectate games. Sorry if I creeped you out, random dude who was playing Assassin’s Creed. My intentions were good, honest!
