GDC 08: Conspiracy uncovered, Destructoid mascot ripped off

Recommended Videos

Okay, so this isn’t as much a GDC news item as it is a heads up; unfortunately, non-disclosure agreements prevent us from giving you the good stuff. But for now, it seems that Destructoid’s iconic logo and mascot has become popular enough to rip off.

This morning, Chad, Nick, and I were on our way to a morning meeting when we encountered the above flyer posted on a pole. This Maldroid performance advertisement features a suited man in a robot helmet, and I’m sure you’ll agree the overall look is similar enough to our beloved leader’s attire to raise our eyebrows.

I’d like to think that the guy on this flyer is just a really big fan of Destructoid, but the band’s Web page and MySpace page don’t give any indication of that.

What do you think? Is this a rip-off of our revered robot?
