Game with the Dtoid community
A little over a year ago, I was having a discussion with our very own Andy Dixon, on how we could help bring the Friday Night Fights segment back to its glory of old. I mentioned that we should reach out to Mikey to see if he could whip us up some sort of banner image or avatar, something to make Friday Night Fights “stand out.” What we ended up with though, was more than I could have ever imagined.
For those of you who have not seen these yet, prepare your eyes, for they shall weep with the sheer awesomeness displayed. I present to you, Friday faithful, the official Friday Night Fights banner(s)! (see gallery, and make sure you download the full resolution).
The amount of care, detail, and love that Mikey put into these banners is amazing. The sheer amount of Dtoiders who stepped up and wanted to be part of this was incredible, and the end result is amazing.
I want to thank everyone who was involved with this, especially Mikey, for banging out some amazing Destructoid artwork, and Aiya who was keeping us all up to date with the latest information. If you want to watch the progression of the banner, check out the forum post, it’s filled to the brim with awesomeness.
Anyway, let’s get to the reason why you came here in the first place, the games…
New to FNF? Read this! Each week, a bunch of us Dtoiders get together to play videogames online! It’s a 100% community-run event, so feel free to join in or even host something yourself!
The planning for FNF starts in the forums, where community members sign up to host matches and post their pertinent details (game, time, Gamertag, etc.). Then, every Friday, reminder posts go up in the community blogs thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, and I recap it all here on the front page to give it a bit more exposure.
To join in, simply send a friend request to the match host! If you’d rather host something yourself, sound off in the comments section below!
