Free Radical needs some Nectar, studio’s future decided on February 4

Free Radical Design’s future as a developer will be announced on February 4. The studio behind the magical Star Wars Battlefront III footage and games like TimeSplitters and Haze was forced into administration last year. Administrator ReSolve Partners will make the official announcement as to how and to whom Free Radical will be sold.

And it may not be bad news. Cameron Gunn of ReSolve told GI last month that interest in Free Radical “has been very strong” despite global warming, apartheid, hunger, and the growing economic crisis.

Free Radical is to be purchased by a suitor as an entire developer or in several lonely asset chunks. Professionals in the meat industry prefer to sell meat in nifty consumer-sized wads because the method makes more money and takes less shelf space. No one wants a cow head (or body) sitting around in his or her freezer for a few months, despite how delicious the eyeballs or hoofs actually are. But there’s always some awesome weirdo out there willing to buy an entire dead animal. Let’s hope Free Radical finds a weirdo.
