Fortnite's new grappling hook will help you reach friends in high places

Hold on tight

Epic Games' battle royale phenomenon Fortnite is about to offer players a whole new way to traverse the landscape, reach those perfect sniper spots, and beat a hasty retreat when the going gets tough.

The Grappler is arriving as part of the new "High Stakes" event, on its way to the multiplayer shooter soon. The new device can be fired between 10-15 times, and will allow you to get your guy or girl out of trouble in a pinch, or to scale hills and buildings with ease, a definite advantage over the opposition. Even if it does remind me of Donald Duck's gun in Quackshot.

The High Stakes event will also include an all new Getaway mode, along with the usual gamut of fresh skins.  Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android devices.
