Fanboy Friday: Mothereffing Superstars

Shadow Complex has come out. Shadow Complex is fun. Shadow Complex got a 9.4 on IGN. Predictably, some people have a huge problem with this. Sure, it’s not perfect and it’s got some glitches, but it’s solid entertainment — I spent 3 hours on the same Proving Grounds level last night, and I had a great time. But, as usual when we have any kind of review, PS3 fans come out to bash the game, and 360 fans start comparing the game to PSN games of totally different genres in an attempt to bash the PS3. It should be noted that almost all of these comments were made 2 days before the game officially came out, so all the people whining and complaining hadn’t even touched the game yet.

In other words, it’s just another typical Fanboy Friday.

This has become so predictable it’s kind of sad. I’ve done this enough times that I pretty much know exactly how the comment thread is going to go before I even start reading. As ususal, it only takes 4 comments in before someone starts trash talking the game. Now, I understand legitimate criticisms, like some of the bugs in the game (I’ve fallen off the world in Proving Grounds at least 5 times), but this particular complaint is rather ridiculous.

IGN should have an art rating…in terms of art it’s about as bad as it gets…

Really? Terrible art? What other games are you playing?

This is another ridiculous complaint, and this guy apparantly has no idea what ‘replayability’ means.

Short game is short. How does replaying the game 5 times give it more lasting appeal? a 6 hour campaign and no multiplayer = 10 in lasting appeal? Bitch Please

ZOMG no multiplayer!! Worst game ever.

With the first shot fired, we see the normal accusations that the game is actually terrible and the only reason it’s getting good scores is because rewview outlets are being paid off, either in straight up cash or sexual favors.

maybe you should spend that time writing better reviews. lmao…

I’m not surprised. IGN is usually sucking Microsoft’s dick.

Once again they knew it sell well regardless because websites like IGN and G4TV take money from Epic to hype up their stuff.

What a fucking joke. I guess now a days IGN’s rating scale goes from only 9.0-10? This website and everyone that works for it have gone so mainstream and casual – most probably haven’t been playing video games since 2004. Joke ass site.

Then we see the squabbling about the actual score number itself, and a bunch of ridiculous comparisions to other games. The two most popular games to compare it to seem to be Killzone 2 and Fat Princess.

how did this game get a 9.4 and fat princess got a 9.0 fat princess is much better

wait a minute wipeout hd gets a 9 for grafix and this gets a 10. game looks good but c’mon!

How the hell does this game get a 10 for graphics and killzone 2 gets a 9.5? Even if this is an xbla game. Worst. Review. Ever.

how is this as good as killzone 2? FAT PRINCESS OWNS THIS GAME! haha that games fun.

10 on graphics woah! I dont think so maybe a 9!

a direct super metroid clone scoring 9.4?  only on ign

This game looks awesome but how in the hell did it get a better grade in the graphics dept. than Killzone 2? Who the hell is in charge over at ign anyway. do you people even screen your own reviews. This is why gamespot will always have the upperhand, because of stupid **** like this.

dont give me that bull**** about how its getting its graphic grade for how much it can handle as an arcade game. ITS STILL A VIDEO GAME you retards. So come up with another excuse of how with all of its glitches and problems, including short length does it get a score similar to that of mass effect, or infamous, or any other retail game for that matter. Because Cliffy B. is behind the project? Give me a f**king break.

Oh yeah? Fat Princess? Let’s see what some of the 360 kids have to say about THAT.

looks great alot better then that shitty fat princess!

O SNAP.

Yes yes yes. Another firm statement as to why XBOX is the ultimate console on the market. Oh it feels good.My ps3 simply makes for a good paperweight.

Just as the score bitching is finally dying down, someone brings up Cliffy B, which sets off a whole new round of bickering.

ign really needs to get off cliffy’s nuts. that guy is tool. everytime i see that mother****** i want to relocate his jaw. hey cliffy buy a shirt that actually fits you you short pathetic loser. you make video games for a living your not a superstar.

looks like all the cliffy drones are falling in line.

Lucky, Cliffy’s fanclub is there to defend him.

cliffyb is NOT a tool he is a mothereffing superstar! blezinski/miyamoto 2012.. theyve got my vote

Apparently a Wii fanboy got lost and accidentally wandered into the discussion.

It is ripping of one of Nintendos Franchises (GUESS!!) But, and I am a Nintendo guy through and through, I can appreciate a little bit of fun. (UNLIKE YOU WIERD PLAYSTATION GUYS WHO ALL STILL LIVE WITH YOUR PARENTS AND HAVE NEVER GONE ON A DATE BEFORE!! *JOKES*)

If you regularly read Fanboy Friday, you know it’s become common for someone to talk a bunch of shit, and then end it with “Well I have both consoles so I’m not biased.” Today is no exception.

look eric brudvig u obviously loved this game might of givin this a too high score i mean u said one of the best games on all platforms this year witch i cant see possible and even if u say best downloadble game theres still fat princess(witch is amazing
0 and MvC2 and 360 fanboys dont say im just saying this because i have a ps3 i own both systems and dont favor either one

And finally, I’ve saved the best for last. This is the greatest comment of the bunch — enjoy this short essay by a Sony fanboy:

First, us REAL GAMERS do not judge how good a game is by its sales. So if Game A sells 1 million copies, and Game B sells 500,000, the end of the equation does not Equal Game A as being the better of the two. This is common knowledge, that REAL GAMERS frequently use.

Here, let me give you an Example. Halo 3 sold a heck of a lot of Copies. But Okami for the PS2 and Wii did not. Okami is actually the better game, by far. It is so much better than Halo 3, it is quite funny.

Secondly, I understand you are a Pathetic 360 Fanboy, which also means you are not a REAL GAMER. You see, Real Gamers do not purposely limit themselves to one system because of a juvenile Bias. Real Gamers open themselves up to every system and all Genres, so they can experience everything the Industry has to offer.

So, since I am a real Gamer, and you are not, I would like to prove you wrong on the third thing. Which is Killzone 2. Even though I can tell you have never played it, or even own a PS3, you seem to think your powers of unlimited knowledge can see whether or not Killzone 2 is being played a lot. Your ultimate knowledge seems to tell you that Killzone 2 was popular for a month, and then forgotten. And I am here to tell you otherwise.

I have been playing Killzone 2 since launch, and it has gotten bigger, and better with every passing month. It was Massive when it launched, and it has only grown since then. It has a gigantic Community who plays to have fun, unlike Halo’s Community who plays because they can’t admit how Generic and Bad it is and that they wasted $60.

And as for as MAG is concerned. I don’t mean to burst your bubble, but when a Game has Hundreds of players playing at once, the Devs have to make sure the Framerate is smooth. In order to do that, they have to make sure the Graphics aren’t too taxing on the CPU. I don’t know if you understand this, since the 360 isn’t eve close to powerful enough to handle a game like MAG, but I am sure one day you will see what I am talking about. Maybe when the next Xbox releases???

Of course, you could always just buy a PS3, but then you would have to admit that you were wrong all this time. And I know little Tool Fanboys like you have a hard time with that.

And I’m spent.

See you next week!
