If there’s one thing we could always afford to talk about more, it’s mods. Earlier today, I was greeted by an email message regarding a mod for Crysis and Crysis: Warhead called MechWarrior: Living Legends.
As some of you may know, I’ve never gotten into the MechWarrior series, but it doesn’t take a dedicated fan to see that giant robots running around in gorgeous CryEngine 2-powered locales is a mighty good thing. The mod, which Wandering Samurai Studios has been working on for more than two years now, recently got a new trailer.
The footage (viewable after the break) is all in-game and taken directly from pre-beta multiplayer playtests. It seems I wasn’t the only one impressed by what I saw — apparently, Crytek hired MechWarrior: Living Legends‘ lead developers for their work on the project.
The mod, according to its creators, who call themselves “hardcore fans” of the classic MechWarrior games, “features large scale combined arms mutliplayer gameplay” using “battlemechs, tanks, aerospace fighters, and battle-armor [from the] BattleTech/MechWarrior universe.”
Like I said, MechWarrior is a series that’s unfamiliar to me, so I’m going to nod my head agreeably.
