EVE Online starts second decade 500,000 subs strong

10 years!

Massive space MMO Eve Online has just passed the 500,000 subscriber mark for the first time. CCP says that they're going into the game's second decade with the "most explosive subscriber growth" in its history. This news comes right after late last year's release of the game's 18th free expansion, Eve Online: Retribution.

There's a lot going on in the EVE universe, so the growth makes sense. Tied-in MMO FPS Dust 514 just went into open beta, and EVE Online just relaunched in China.

To celebrate, Eve Fanfest will kick off in Reykajavik, Iceland with a Second Decade theme.

Congrats, CCP. A decade is an amazing run. Here's to another!
