EA to acquire iPhone dev Firemint

Recommended Videos

You know the name Firemint from two of the finest iPhone franchises available, Flight Control and Real Racing. I’ve always liked Firemint. While lots of companies out there are making little $0.99 disposable turds, these guys are working hard to craft polished games that would be equally at home on your PC or game consoles.

EA announced today that they plan to acquire the Melbourne-based company, with the deal closing within the next four weeks. A press release says that this brings “an attractive future slate of games” to EAi.

This deal follows the EA’s recent acquisition of Mobile Post Production (MPP), a company that works on porting games to smartphones. It looks like EA is becoming quite serious about being a leader in the mobile games space.
