EA and Origin Access subscribers can play the first two levels of Unravel right now

Oooh Yarny, kumbayaaaa

It’s not long now until puzzle-platformer Unravel is launched. On February 9, the world will be too distracted by how adorable Yarny is to notice many of the world’s ills, and we will at last have achieved global peace. We shall all gather around the yarn tree and sing Kumbaya as we watch all of our worldly concerns fade away.

But for those with an active EA Access subscription (or Origin Access on PC), Kumbaya and trees and shit have already come. The service is giving subscribers the ability to play the first two levels of Unravel for up to ten hours, almost a week ahead of its full release. Subscribers won’t have to replay those levels either, as progress will carry over.

I know plenty of people aren’t a fan of it, but this is what I like about EA Access. Demos all but vanished a few years ago because publishers realised people will buy games anyway. Seeing them make a comeback as an incentive for a low-cost subscription service with a load of other goodies, and a 10% discount on the full game if you liked what you played, seems like a pretty neat idea to me. Good job, EA.

I really hope Unravel is good because god damn it is Yarny cute… saying that game is bad would feel like kicking a puppy.
