E3 09: New WET trailer has a liquid ton of style

0

WET is a stupidly-named third-person shooter that's being developed by a company called Artificial Mind and Movement and published by Bethesda Softworks. Seeing as how we're right in the middle of E3 (you may've heard of it?), it's Bethesda's job to hype this (admittedly cool-looking) project to hell and back.

To that end, they've got Eliza Dushku parading around the booth signing WET posters. She's famous for two things: being moderately more attractive than anyone I went to high school with and for her role as Faith on the Joss Whedon-created, geek-approved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also happens to be the voice of Rubi Malone, WET's acrobatic femme fatale. Of course, the last time someone hot represented a busty, gun-toting heroine, she ended up adopting all of the Third World.

Anyway, there is a new trailer below the jump and it shows off WET's distinctive, Tarantino-infused story and sense of style, which A2M describes as a "unique retro visual treatment with stylized over-the-top characters," including "an original 70's inspired soundtrack." It also introduces some of those over-the-top characters--including the leading lady herself--and the game's three different mechanics: "slip-aiming," sword fighting, and acrobatics. Slip aiming is the ability to shoot at any time -- when you're sprinting, when you're flying through the air, or when you're waxing your meticulous eyebrows.

Plus, if the file names of these screen shots are anything to go by, the red, white, and black visuals you see represent something called "rage mode." I don't know what that's all about, but I like the way it looks. WET (God damn, I hate typing that out) will be out this fall for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

P.S. Did I really get all the way through a post about WET without any sex puns? Success!
