Here are some shots from Sega’s upcoming Japanese mafia simulator, Yakuza 2. Dragon tattoo bearing Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of the previous game, will be making a return appearance. This time, instead of only having an accurate representation of Tokyo to tromp around, parts of Osaka will also be open for Kazuma to explore.
Touting a new and improved combat system, Sega specifically mentions the ability to string together combos to effectively take out large groups of enemies. Environmental objects can be utilized during fights while context sensitive moves — like throwing people off of balconies – will also be available.
The header image shows that the Yakuza sequel will have plenty for players to do when they aren’t busy breaking the law: bowling alleys, bars, driving ranges, and cabaret clubs will all be open for business. Purists should be happy to know that Yakuza 2 will not be dubbed, containing only the Japanese vocals and English subtitles.
Yakuza 2 is set for a September 9 release date, and will be coming out only for the PlayStation 2.
