Did you manage to take out Hitman's first Elusive Target?

Either way, how did it go down?

Over the weekend, Hitman players had a single chance to hunt down a unique character. Sergei "The Forger" Larin was the first of the game's Elusive Targets -- one-off encounters that go live for a limited time and won't return. There's no saving to fall back on, so the pressure is on even more than normal. As someone who coincidentally happened to start Hitman on Friday, it was nerve-wracking.

But a lot of you seasoned killers were up to the task. IO Interactive released statistics for this Elusive Target today and a 53 percent success rate is much higher than I would've predicted.

Part of it could be that less-confident players were too nervous to even try the contract. After watching the briefing and reading up on the permanence of it all, I was intimidated for sure. And I have to imagine there were folks who were too busy or just weren't aware this was even on. If you missed this one or weren't thrilled with your attempt (let's hear those stories!), there will be more.

"We were inundated with feedback about all aspects of the Elusive Targets and we're still digesting that and having discussions internally about what, if anything, we might want to change, tweak or adjust in the future," IO said in a blog post. "There will be more Elusive Targets coming; they are just as integral to our live content as Escalations have been in recent weeks. Expect a more even balance between the two modes going forward."

Going in, there was a ton of skepticism surrounding Hitman, especially with its episodic release format, but much of that seems to have turned around. Everyone I know who has tried the game has had only good things to say about it. That's why I finally caved last week, actually. I'm glad I did.
