I'm a complete sucker for strategy and management games. So when Sandswept Studios sent over this developer vlog, detailing in a very clear manner how their upcoming indie game DETOUR plays, it was like a critical hit on my weak spot.

DETOUR looks like a mix between real-time strategy wargames and Transport Tycoon, creating -- to my knowledge -- the very first weaponized action-construction RTS. Think of it as a fast-paced OpenTTD with guns. The goal is to get your trucks to the other side of the map by creating routes, while trying to stop your opponents from doing the same thing. How does one do such a thing? By placing turrets, obstructions, and strategic buildings. Or by throwing massive bombs at them.

From the looks of it there's plenty of manageable depth in the game's design to last you a while, and it could be a lot of fun with like-minded friends. Although you can see Xbox 360 controls in the video -- which is typical for early builds -- DETOUR is coming to Steam in Q2 2011, and possibly faster than you think.
