Sony Online Entertainment’s PlayStation 3 and PC MMO DC Universe Online could be available either late 2009 or early 2010. At least the guy that penned the game’s overall script various DC comics thinks so.
In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Geoff Johns may have let the release cat out of the bag, but he also had something to add to the collective knowledge of DC Universe’s progress. The main story arc is finished. From the interview:
It launches I think in early 2010, it could be late 2009. I’ve written the overall story and the path that gets you into the game and the areas of the universe and how to explore them, but not every line of dialogue. That’s a fulltime job, it’s too frigging big, too intense to write every line of an MMO. I’d probably jump off a building.
Writing the dialogue for an MMO is probably quite the task, and I’m sure Johns is relieved that he won’t have to do so. While I’m excited by the possibility of DC Universe hitting earlier than I expected, I’m still cautious about his date. MMOs tend to get delayed several times during development and often well past expectations. We’ll have to wait and see how long this date sticks.
