Man, it has been a whirlwind of a last few months for Ziff Davis/1UP/EGM. After filing for bankruptcy just a month ago, it now looks like 1UP and Electronic Gaming Monthly staple Dan “Shoe” Hsu is leaving … for good.
According to Vice President Simon Cox’s blog on 1UP, Shoe will be leaving Ziff Davis on April 25 for “change in his life.”
This news comes as a shock since Shoe just announced in the last issue of EGM that he was promoted within the company (with James Mielke taking over his position as Editor-in-Chief).
On a personal note: I never had the pleasure of meeting Dan, but I have been a fan of his since I was a teenager. I equated him with Electronic Gaming Monthly and it is very sad to see him go. I’m sure I am speaking for all of us here at Destructoid when I wish him the best. Good luck, Shoe. You will be missed.
