Cut Fallout 4 weapon resurrected by modder

Harpoons thrust into the sky

From the murky brine of cut content and dummied out items, modder xxdeathknight72xx has returned to the surface with a most intriguing treasure. A curious harpoon gun that never made it into the game proper.

The harpoon gun replaces the railway rifle and is functionally very similar -- a big clunky weapon chucking nasty spikes that will pin severed body parts to nearby walls. Oddly enough, air bubbles can be seen escaping the harpoon gun in a few animations, implying that it was originally intended to be used underwater. Did Bethesda have submerged exploration in mind before it realized that underwater areas in games are the worst thing ever and decided against it? Or could this possibly be a hint at future DLC? I'm sure that would make our resident nautical expert Ben Davis happy.

If you want to give it a try, you can download this mod for the PC version. If you're playing on one of the console versions, you can pick up the railway rifle and hum the Jaws theme to yourself to approximate the experience.
