Create a save file for The Walking Dead with Telltale's Final Season Story Builder

0

Clementine will remember that

Before The Walking Dead: The Final Season debuts on August 14, you'll have a chance to revisit your past choices and, if you feel like it, change history. Telltale has whipped up an interactive browser-based Story Builder that lets you create your own ideal save file for the upcoming episodic adventure game.

Seeing some of the major branching paths pop up again is a grim trip down memory lane -- especially the ones from Season One. (Lee!) Once you've gone through the Story Builder, you'll be able to link your Telltale account to put your data into the cloud, at which point it's ready for The Final Season.

It's wild to think that Clementine's story is almost over, but I'm ready for Telltale to move on.

For specifics on save importing and compatibility, the studio has laid out a step-by-step guide:

FROM THE STORY BUILDER

After finishing the Story Builder, choose to link to your Telltale Games Account on the end screen, which will then upload your decisions to the cloud. When booting up The Walking Dead: The Final Season, you will be asked if you’d like to import a save. Click "Yes" and the game will ask whether you want to "Import Local Save" or "Check for Choice Data." Select "Check for Choice Data" and you will be prompted to log in to your Telltale Account. Login to your Telltale Account and the game will access your data from the Telltale Servers.

FROM THE WALKING DEAD COLLECTION

When you boot up The Walking Dead: The Final Season, you will be asked if you’d like to import a save. Click "Yes," and the game will ask whether you want to "Import Local Save" or "Check for Choice Data." Select "Import Local Save" and you will see a save file from The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection appear.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season will recognize save files from completed playthroughs of The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, The Walking Dead: Season Two, and The Walking Dead: A Telltale Series (a.k.a. Season One) from The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection. The Walking Dead: The Final Season will also recognize and accept save files of incomplete playthroughs of Season One from Collection. This partial playthrough perk is only available for Season One.

FROM THE WALKING DEAD: A NEW FRONTIER (STANDALONE GAME)

You can either import a local save from your machine or use a cloud save via your Telltale Games Account. Your must have completed your playthrough of A New Frontier for the save file to be valid. When booting up The Walking Dead: The Final Season, you will be asked if you’d like to import a save. Click "Yes" and the game will ask whether you want to "Import Local Save" or "Check for Choice Data." Select “Import Local Save” to import a save file that is already saved directly on your system. Select “Check for Choice Data” and you will be prompted to log in to your Telltale Account, where you can access your data from the Telltale Servers.

Note that PlayStation 4 versions of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will only intake PlayStation 4, PC, iOS, and Android cloud saves of A New Frontier.

Xbox One versions of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will accept cloud saves from Xbox One, PC, Win10, iOS, and Android cloud saves of A New Frontier.

PC versions of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will accept cloud saves from PC, Xbox One, PS4, Win10, iOS, and Android versions of A New Frontier.

Windows 10 versions of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will accept cloud saves from Win10, PC, Xbox One, iOS and Android versions of A New Frontier.

The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is the only standalone title outside of The Walking Dead Collection that allows you to carry your decisions into The Walking Dead: The Final Season. Standalone Season One and Season Two game saves will not work.
