Congrats on the Academy Award, SpeedTree

We were rooting for you

Do you ever take a moment to stop and admire the scenery? Too often are we focused on mindlessly pushing forward to the next objective to notice the little details. Foliage, man. Take it in.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is awarding a Technical Achievement Award to vegetation software SpeedTree. It's been around for over a decade and has been prominently featured in videogames (The Evil Within, Shrek The Third: The Game) and movies.

Developers Michael Sechrest, Chris King, and Greg Croft from SpeedTree maker IDV will receive their award during the Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation in Beverly Hills, CA on February 7, ahead of the Oscars on February 22. But enough talk -- let's look at some tree porn.
