Cave has announced its next Xbox Live Arcade game, and it’s not a re-release of a classic shoot-’em-up. Heck, it’s not even a new shmup. Instead, the company is putting out a platformer by the name of Nin2-Jump. Rolls off the tongue there, huh?

Most notably, the game captures the essence of shadow puppetry. In terms of mechanics, Nin2-Jump seems fairly straightforward — which, to me, works fine in conjunction with the unusual premise.

This will be one to watch for fans of leaderboards, as it delves into both time- and score-based territory in a big way. Putting the player’s time directly into the HUD is certainly one way to fuel our competitive nature.
