Carmageddon website counting down to … something

Carmageddon is a game more famous for its controversy than anything it actually did as a videogame, replacing the slaughtered civilians with zombies in various releases. See, you got extra time on the race clock by running over pedestrians. Fun!

Anyway, we haven’t had a Carmageddon game in 8,000 years, but a countdown appeared on the series’ official site, which is scheduled to end on June 1. Square Enix owns the domain now, and it’s entirely possible that a brand new game could be in the works.

The last game in development, Carmageddon 4, was canceled in 2005. Since then, word on the series has been thin on the ground, so this is all very exciting, isn’t it?
