Capcom bears the bad news: No Bionic Commando for the Virtual Console

Recommended Videos

While Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the release of Bionic Commando: Rearmed, what are the chances of the original version hitting the Virtual Console? The highly-regarded classic would undoubtedly be a big seller, so why haven’t we heard anything about that possibility?

Bionic Commando: Rearmed producer Ben Judd has come clean on the subject, stating in an interview with IGN that Bionic Commando on the Virtual Console “couldn’t happen.” He then goes on to say, “I’ve tried to hit every single angle I can, I’ve pushed this as a new franchise. If it’s not on the Virtual Console, you can bet there’s a reason for it.”

Bummer. But before you blame Capcom for this whole mess, check out this forum post first. In it, Capcom’s VP of Strategic Planning, Christian Svennson, states that it’s an issue with Nintendo.

Any idea why the big N wouldn’t want to release Bionic Commando on the Virtual Console?
