Bethesda Softworks has announced that its upcoming first-person-shooter Brink is going to hit shelves a week earlier than planned, with North America receiving it on May 10 and Europe getting into things on May 13.

“Production wrapped on Brink earlier than we planned and we didn’t see any reason to keep gamers from getting their hands on this highly anticipated game as soon as it was ready,” said marketing lord Pete Hines. “It’s apparent from the tremendous reaction so far that people are eager to jump online and play, and if we can make that happen earlier — we’re going to.”

North America and Europe originally had May 17 and May 20 as release dates, respectively. Since I can barely contain my throbbing, wretched, red-raw maggot-boner over this game, the early release is rather good news for yours truly.

Brink looks like it might kick arse. Looking forward to finding out.
