Borderlands 3 is weirdly beautiful without any color

Borderlands meets Limbo

Borderlands' signature art style is a defining trait for the series. Splashy and vibrant, the color palette is an effective complement to all the violence. However, it's evidently not an absolute necessity.

Modder RedxYeti has created a Borderlands 3 mod that takes us to Pandora by way of Limbo. That's right -- it's all black and white, bleak and monochrome. Stripped of the UI and floating damage numbers, the shooting still packs a punch. It's the large-scale environments that truly look special, though.

The mod isn't anything too complicated. It's simply described as "a reshade preset using the depth buffer." You can download it here to try for yourself. That giant spider wouldn't be so scary when we have a billion guns on our side.
