PS3 Fight Club - Season 1 Update 2

I've been thinking a lot about the Season 1 roster and have decided to trim it down. I figure that if each season is 3 games, we could get in 2 a year and have more flexibility with the titles represented. My ultimate goal is to get in as m...

PS3 Fight Club - T-minus 5 days

A few recommendations for the upcoming SSFIV ranbat: 1. Make sure everyone is added to your friends list. It's easier to have everyone on your friend list beforehand as it's one less step the week of your matches. 2. Play matches in a 2 pl...

PS3 Fight Club Ranbat Season 1 update

Thus far, we have 31 participants in the SSFIV Ranbat 1. That's a lot of players and this will be a long tournament. If we stick to the schedule with 1 round per week, this ranbat will run about 9 weeks. If we can expedite the rounds, we ca...

PS3 Fight Club - Level Up Week

Note: I purposely chose not to use the term scrub. Scrub is a derogatory name reserved for those who refuse to improve their game. Quite a few players signed up for the PS3 Fight Club have announced themselves to be new/inexperienced playe...

PS3 Fight Club presents... Maximizing your connection

Fighting games are never perfect online; that's a fact. Most of us are quick to complain about netcode, which should be done. The problem is that most Japanese developers use netcode that works very well in Japan which is a tiny country w...

Let's do this! PS3 Fight Club

It's time, ladies and gents! The 360 crowd has a well-organized fighting game group; the PS3 crowd needs to step up. There are too many good fighters out and it's time for this community gets behind them. Someone needs to take charge and,...

My arcade stick project - the finale

It's finally done. It's taken a long time as I switched designs, decided to go MC Cthulhu, ran into problems with that and then decided to go with a pad hack instead. The final results: The interior is not that clean but it's functiona...

Arcade stick project - Update 3

As I was researching how to paint metal, I found that the process is extremely tedious and deals with a lot of chemicals I'd rather not mess with. I'm no Walter White, after all. I then started to research vinyl decals. These are coated and...

Arcade stick project update

See this design? It's dead now. I've been really busy of late. I'm on a fairly rigorous work out schedule; I'm publishing a weekly web comic and learning how to use a Wacom tablet; fighting to get XP working on my dual boot laptop; and s...

What is known about King of Fighters XIII

Today has been a great day for KoF and SNK fans. What is known: The character select screen groups the characters into teams in classic KoF style. Mai, King and Yuri are back and make up an all-female Team (Ladies Team?). Several tea...

My thoughts on the APOCALYPS3

A few facts about me: I am a console/arcade gamer. There are a few reasons for this. I don't like Windows, never have and I doubt I ever will. I enjoy problem solving but I don't have a desire to have to configure and work to play games. Th...

Stick project update 1

I received the Cthulhu board on Monday and the 30 AWG wire arrived today. That stuff is microscopic. I'm worried more about dealing with that wire than the soldering of the PS2 wire. Anyway, 4 lamelabels later and I've finished the graphic ...

What Capcom should do with the TvC engine

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is out and SSFIV will be out soon. That means that Capcom's fighting game branch has some free time coming up. I figure they should take a break and then get back to work on some of these brilliant ideas I have. TvC is ...

Stick project update

I got the first few parts for my stick in today - one pink bubbletop and 6 clear violet Seimitsu snap-in buttons. When an arcade stick features clear pink and purple, you know it's manly. In all seriousness, I have a PS2 extension cable, ...

A new project

See that stick up there? It's been collecting dust since I finished my KoF themed HRAP3 mod. Part of the reason is that the HRAP3 plays backwards compatible PS2 games on my PS3. Having an arcade stick laying around is not cool, so I have ...

Tatsunoko vs Capcom review

Graphics TvC is the most beautiful 3D fighter ever made. The designers did an incredible job translating the characters from their origins as either anime or sprite-based characters into polygons. The cel-shading over these polygons is s...

More thoughts on Tatsunoko vs Capcom

Tomorrow's the day. TvC will finally be released in the West. Overall, most fighting game fans seem hyped for the release but a few seem uninterested. For those hyped, plan to exchange friend codes tomorrow. I plan on spending an hour or ...

Sky Crawlers the anime and the game

If there are two words that will get me to buy anime, those words are Mamoru Oshii. I love Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, the Patlabor films and Jin-Roh (he wrote it). When I first saw The Sky Crawlers on DVD, I was interested by the de...

About nilcamone of us since 9:53 AM on 01.31.2007

Old-school gamer. I started gaming with the Atari 2600. I became an addict with the arcade release of Street Fighter II at my college. The SNES release pushed me into buying that system and a lame arcade stick. I haven't looked back since then. I still consider the 16-bit to be the Golden Age of gaming. The current generation is keeping me pretty happy, especially with the fighting game renaissance that's happening lately. And, yes, I'm old.

Proud owner of: Kiwi Gameboy Color, Purple GBA, GBA SP, GBA Micro, PSP 3000, Clear NeoGeo Pocket, purple SwanCrystal, SNES, Genesis, N64, purple Gamecube, PS3, white New 3DS, black Japanese New 3DS, seafoam 2DS, and Wii U.

Favorite Games: Last Blade, Street Fighter Alpha 2, A Link to the Past, Minish Cap, King of Fighters, Ikaruga, Macross: Do You Remember Love, A Link Between Worlds, Ocarina of Time 3DS, Valkyria Chronicles, Professor Layton, Killer7, Pokken Tournament

Games on my mind:
Pokken Tournament
Zelda Picross
Hyrule Warriors Legends
