A Call to Arms for the Extra Life G3 Charity Event (Help Sick Kids)

Last year for Destructoid's Community G3 raffle, I worked extremely hard to get $500 raised for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals from this community and you guys pulled through like it wasn't any big thing. I scrambled and ran around like a chicken with my head cut off, but you guys still supported me. For 24 hours, I played for you and you helped me reach my goal. I've thanked you many, many times already, but thank you once again in case you forgot.

It has been almost a year and G3 is upon us again. This time, I had a chance to plan a bit and get support from game developers all around the world. On August 18th, I am going to marathon 24 hours for Children's Miracle Network hospitals to help sick kids get better health care. I want to reward you all for helping me out. To my count, I have over 50 games donated to me from some of the nicest devs in the business.

The catch is that I can't give these codes away until I reach my team goal of $1000. This has always been my prerequisite because I want to reach my goal first and foremost. I want to prove how awesome we are to the developers that offered these games to us. After all of the support from you last year, I know for fact that I can do it.

How to Donate:
Click on the link below:

Donate Here

Fill out all your information and the amount you want to donate. Even if you can only spare a dollar, I will gladly accept it and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Next, make sure to check the little box that says Allow participant to see my e-mail address

This allows me to track who donated so I can enter you in to the raffle. You can choose to donate anonymously, but that means I won't know who you are and I can't enter you.

Donations are live now so please donate anything you can.

When will the raffle be drawn?

After we reach the $1000 I'll draw the emails with a number randomizer website. I'm probably going to be asleep for most of Sunday. If we do hit the total early, I'm still going to wait til the entire event is over. I'm going to be using my laptop for a stream, I don't want to dare opening the files.

Sunday night will probably be when I get around to drawing names and Monday will be the announcement for the winners.

Am I really marathoning for 24 hours?

Yes. From 11AM EST Aug 18 to 11AM EST Aug 19, I will be playing some form of video game. This is serious to me.

I am also extending an invitation for you all to game along with me. I will be on a live stream for a good deal of this, but when I'm not, I will be playing multiplayer games that you can join on. Keep me company.

Game With Me

Gamertag: manasteel88
PSN ID: manasteel88
Steam ID: manasteel88

I am not an online gamer in the slightest, so I am staying as far away from multiplayer PC games as I can. I'm sure it's easy to configure, I've just never done it. Consoles however are a bit easier for me so hit me up or even leave me a message at any of the IDs above. I'll answer any questions and I'll accept anybody's request to join my game.

You can find the entire team's schedule here:
and I do hope you'll find us out and game with us.

Gears of War
11AM - 12PM EST

I figured my first true online game should be the first thing to kick this off. Everybody dust off your copy and come play an old classic.

12 PM- 1PM EST

I figured that this would be a nice break from lancing. Just so you know, DIBS on Dazzler. *He says as if somebody else actually wanted to play as her*

Halo: Reach

I suck at Halo, but it is one of the few games Brett and I share and since he's going to be going in to his 3rd hour with this, I figured I'd help him out by playing with him. Please note that I don't even know how to use the jetpack so if you want free kills come find me.

3PM - 10PM EST

I'm going to be on the stream for a long stretch of time. Please keep me company until I can get back to my consoles for some Mass Effect. I have never done one of these so I'm a bit nervous about being on for so long.

Mass Effect 3
10PM - 12AM EST

I've actually only ever played the Beta, so this will be something fresh. Let's raise some readiness together.

Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown
Xbox or PS3
12AM - 2AM EST

Sound off in the comments which version you want me to play. I can play both and want to have some fun with ranking up.

Mortal Kombat Vita

I just got this a few days ago and I know it's not the preferred version for hardcore MK fans, but I want to give my Vita a real test drive. Find me and we'll rip each others hearts out.

I have no idea how to even play Terraria. This will be with the group on stream so after they teach me how to use this, I'll try and add you to our game.

King of Fighters XIII

I have no idea if anybody will want to show up for this, but I bought the game to play with Elsa on her birthday and the thing took so long to install that I missed it. If anybody is awake that has a copy, let's go all Top Gun on the battlefield.

BlazBlue, Battle Fantasia, Dead or Alive 4

It'll be late by this point, so if you want to hit me up for any of these games please do. I'm really not going to be planning this one. Last time I tried to play Battle Fantasia during G3 nobody showed up so if you want to whoop my effeminate Harry Potter rip off. Come at me.

8AM - 11AM EST

This is the final stretch where I will be working REALLY hard to get the last of the donations. I figured 24 hours of marathon had to end in a complicated shmup, so Jamestown will rap this all up.

Thank you for your time in reading this. Please join me on stream and in game on Saturday. If you have any extra change please help out. My sad little donation jar from work needs all the help it can get (it has $5 in it so far)

This will be my first time appearing on a livestream in any form (and I'm doing it for HOURS), so please give me your support by hopping in the chat Saturday and wishing me luck. I need all the help I can get with this.
