Double Dipping: Shog Loves Final Fantasy!

Double-dipping is kind of a strange thing to think about when it comes to entertainment and consumer goods. I’ve read each of the Harry Potter books over a dozen times each but the only reason I would see myself buying those book...

Shog's Halloween Gaming Journal

It just hit me that this games journal isn’t going to hit until November 1st at the earliest so I’m going to apologize now if you’re sick of Halloween theming. Honestly, there isn’t all that much Halloween theme...

BoB - So you Can't Stay Dead

Halloween is upon us so I guess it's kind of obvious that this month's band-of-bloggers subject would revolve around the undead. Looking back through my notes of what games I've played this month tho...

Shog's September Games Journal

September has come and gone at a speed that would embarrass January which is a shame because the last week has been really, really nice unless you count the torrential downpour that happened a few times each day. During the past month ...

Shog Reacts to the 9/13 Nintendo Direct

Wooo! Nintendo Direct! I had some pretty high hopes for this Direct considering how Smash-Heavy the last two had been. I enjoy Smash and I’m excited to play the next entry in the series but my Switch is more than just a Smash-Mac...

Shog's August Gaming Journal

Geeze, August is a long, terribly hot and, insufferable month. How lucky I am then to live indoors and with air conditioning so I don’t have to spend too much of my time suffering from environmental damage. Unlike the last couple...

BoB - Shog's Summer Lovin'

I'm really terrible when it comes to remembering things. All throughout my 20's I would forget my age, I have a lot of trouble with people's names and faces and this is an issue I've always had to deal with; I don't even drink or use m...

Shog's July Gaming Journal

July has come and gone which is great because I’ve been sick and tired of summer since around March. There have been a few relatively big releases this past month which I would love to talk about but which I haven’t picked ...

A Shoggy Look at the Best Games of All Time

‘The Best Game of All Time’ is one of those descriptors that almost always lead to a fistfight and several lawsuits. Despite the volatile nature of the phrase though, it’s one that gamsters have used and continue sinc...

Shog's June Gaming Journal

2018 is finally more than half-way over and so far it’s been a pretty good year for gaming. It maybe hasn’t been as good as 2017 or, 1999 or, 1992 but boy oh boy has 2018 been great so far and with E3 still fresh in our min...

A Shoggy Look at E3 2018

The Electronics Gaming Expo of 2018 has come and gone and it was certainly something! It could be called remarkable considering how few train wrecks and mishaps happened. As fun as it would be to talk at length about Andrew CK or Sony&...

Shog's May Gaming Journal

Holy Pork-Pies, May was a better month than April for me! I haven’t found a new job but I’m in a good enough place with my current job that I’m not as worried about not being able to have enough for rent so with that ...

A Shoggy Look at Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I did not like Xenoblade Chronicles. I didn’t like the over-the-top English voice acting, I didn’t care about the characters or plot and I really disliked the MMO style auto-combat with special attacks littering the bottom ...

Game Compilations that Disappointed Me

Game compilations can be awesome! I love the idea of buying one disc or one cartridge for the price of a new release and having instant access to multiple full games. I especially like when beating those games unlocks even more full on...

A Shoggy Look at Fast Food

Much like Greenhornet214, I love fast food, grew up eating fast food and, eat it fairly often. I’m essentially just stealing his concept but that doesn’t mean I don’t have my own thoughts, feelings and, preferences wh...

Shog's April Gaming Journal

It’s May and if I’m being completely honest April was kind of a garbage month for me. In order to remedy the anxiety I have due to never having much money, I got myself a second job for about a week before I realized that I...

Shog's March Gaming Journal

It’s April and you know what that means, it’s time for me to document the games that I’ve played and played through during the previous month! This past month I haven’t really started many new games because boy-...

The Legend of Zelda is a series of JRPGs

The Legend of Zelda has been a cornerstone of the Nintendo lexicon since its introduction on the Nitendo Family Computer in Japan way back in 1986. Since then, there have been 18 or 19 titles in the main series (18 if you count Ages an...

Shog's February Gaming Journal

February is a short month, not just in the obvious way  but there’s something about the first quarter of the year that just kinda zips by, for me at least. I’m sure my gaming habits have a negligible impact on my perception...

Shog's January Gaming Journal

In a feeble attempt to write more I've decided to write about the games I've been playing recently but when I realized I don't have enough motivation to do this weekly, I've decided to try and go for more of a monthly thing. Overall I ...

Disney, EA and their adopted child Star Wars

Whispers began of Disney being interested in purchasing the rights to Star Wars in mid-to-late 2012 only to be confirmed late in December of that year when it was announced that Disney had effectively purchased the entirety of Lucasfil...

A Shoggy Look at Death Note (2017)

Way back in December of 2003, subscribers and fans of the weekly Shonen JUMP! Magazine were treated to the first installment of Death Note. A couple of years later, the first manga would make it to the United States where its success a...

A Shoggy Look at Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XIII-Vs...shit...Final Fantasy XV then; Final Fantasy XV is the first major entry in the Final Fantasy series that has nothing to do with FInal Fantasy XIII although that’s assuming you ignore the history of this ga...

About Shoggoth2588one of us since 6:55 AM on 06.03.2013

Hello all! I'm Joe, from Maryland! I released five days before Enix launched Dragon Quest 3! I started playing games around the time I was 3, with some very early memories of myself playing Duck Hunt in my Dad's office and Golden Axe in an arcade at what might have been an airport (It was a weird memory). I'm mostly harmless so if you wanna talk to me, send me a message. I'll be around, making horrible puns though not quite as horrible as Gus' is able to do. I'll lurk on the Discord too and if you want to be my friend there, than come at me!
