Took my bike into the polder today, it was great! Saw baby geese, swallows flew by right overhead, and saw a stork fly off 2 meters away from me! This place is literally 15 minutes away from where I live, and I never even knew. 10/10 would bike again.

Yo dawg, I herd you like bridges, so...

Smol birb friend! Sparrow designed by Meng Weining. This is some of my favorite paper to work with: strong, creases sharply and looks great for any brownish critter (so, most of them). Very proud of this guy, one of the best I've ever made.

"Wait, why does the game only make me fight this thing now? I've killed huge dragons, and now we're just getting some ape with horns? It's barely bigger than me! How hard could this guy be?" - Me, about 10 seconds before getting bodied by Rajang.

Oh Torchic just can't WAIT to be kiiiiiing!

Last one for the day. So yeah, New Pokémon Snap...'s pretty great.

"Mom, are we there yet?...Are we there yet?....Are we there yet?...Are we there yet?...Are we there yet?...Are we there yet?" - "NO WE'RE NOT THERE YET!"

My first Snap worth sharing, hopefully to be followed by many more. I'm loving this game already; it feels like a much more complete experience than the original, and it truly invites creativity with how easily you can fine-tune your pics.

I just spent way more money on paper than I'm willing to admit, but the result was worth it! Seated peacock, designed by Himanshu Agrawal

Man, Rise's Rampage Quests are the píts. I just did the Urgent one against Apex bear. Only won because you don't fail at 3 carts, and the quests randomly completed. I don't think it was even dead, it just popped up "You win!" like it felt sorry for me.

I've been playing Lair of the Clockwork God, and it's a neat and funny little combo of platforming and point-and-click of all things. I like how the gameplay styles are kept separate by having two characters, one of whom just refuses to do any jumping.

#MemesILove I am a simple man. I don't need no fancy memein' where you need to read half a textbook before you understand the context. Just give me some nice, clean reaction gifs, and I'm like:

#memepetpeevetoid This meme, this meme right here. It bugs me. The formatting doesn't work, because it very clearly does NOT read "Nobody is saying this thing." It reads "Nobody is saying nothing". /memepetpeevetoid

I submitted an article for review last week, and I did a presentation for a conference. So I'm taking a break until May. There's monsters to hunt, critters to fold, and certainly no work to be done.

Got cancelled on for a Skype date on Wednesday, rescheduled for today, got cancelled on again. No "I'm véry busy for the next forever weeks", but if she's not responsive to a new day now, I'll have to assume she changed her mind. Suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

This Kingfisher friend was tough! Not the best I've ever done, but one of the most mágical given that this is, indeed, still one piece of paper. Designed by Sébastien Limet.

Gecko friend! Shout-outs to Gex; I knów you remember him. Model designed by Wonseon Seo.

Fox friend! Not to be confused with a Fox&Friend. It's a smol cartoony cub; getting definite Vulpix vibes from it too. Designed by Sébastien Limet

TFW a bunch of Dtoiders change their usernames all at once.

It seems Monster Hunter Rise has so many menus that not even the devs can spell-check them all! Those are some pretty sweet compaible coatings though!

I have half a mind that these intros are voiced by Crispin Freeman doing his best Alucard. It's either that or Xander Mobus doing Arsene.

"Alright, now that I'm done with work, let's boot up Rise for the first time!" *spends over an hour in the character creator* Oh well, at least I think she's pretty badass now. Now here's hoping there's a "Hide helmet" option!

I have a lot of extremely important work to finish today, but I just found in the mail an express ticket to a land of monsters, and the hunting thereof. Adulting is pain.

What's in the box you'll never guess; you nerds have puny brains, but this dumb duo has even less!

I just voted for our national elections in a party tent! Because there ain't no party like a democratic legitimacy par-TAY!

For all the things Destructoid has done right and wrong over the years, the one thing that's irreplaceable is the community it fostered. I don't know what Papa Niero did different than everybody else, but the results speak for themselves. Happy birthday!

Newest friend, a Grasshopper buddy. It was 30x30 when I started, but the paper was pretty thicc so the head didn't go all the way.

About ShadeOfLightone of us since 7:43 AM on 07.16.2010

The Dutch one, Grand Marshal of the Nintendo Defense Force, heckler of GajKnight, and zen personified; I am ShadeOfLight, one of your Community Managers .

I'm a Dutch law PhD who loves to play the vidya. I'm a Nintendo-fanboy at heart, and I could play Zelda games continuously from now until the end of time. I also used to be on the Cblog Recaps team for Thursdays, and I did that for 4 whole years.

Next to Zelda I'm also obsessed with the Monolith Soft RPGs Xenoblade Chronicles and the Baten Kaitos series. I will not pass up the opportunity to mention them, ever, and I consider myself to be Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean's biggest fan. I'm fairly certain Monolith Soft exists specifically to make me happy.

Being the good Nintendo fanboy that I am, the Switch is the new love of my life. I'm on a steady course of turning it into a Nintendo + Indies machine, as Iwata intended.

Even a list of my favorite games across all platforms will be dominated by Nintendo and indie, with a few wild cards here and there.

Besides gaming itself, I like reading up on gaming-related news on my favorite website in the whole wide world: Destructoid. I'm pretty much here all the time. I love all the people here, and I'm glad that I get to be a part of this whole thing. Wouldn't know what to do without you!

And it turns out you guys love me too!
I've had some blogs promoted:
- Because VIDEOGAMES!
- Digital Property: Entering the Third Age
- Better with Age: Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Waifu Wars: Midriff or Bust
- And posted as The Wombat: 2014: I want to make love to you. Seriously.
