Less than two hours until the final Smash DLC (for now). What are you all hoping/expecting? Personally I'm thinking Rayman would be reasonable. He's definitely a classic character who's still missing, plus Ubisoft and Nintendo are tight.

Is it me, or is Twitch horrendous for watching past videos? I’m trying to catch everything I missed from AGDQ, but I cannot get the VOD to play for longer than 15 seconds at a time.

This is the time of year I buy games I would otherwise wait on. Currently playing Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and I really dig it. None of the original’s jankiness; tight controls, neat level design, excellent Wise-Kirkhope music.

Had a date the other day, went really well! But today she messaged that she likes me and really enjoyed it, but wasn’t feeling anything more than that. I get the sense sometimes that all women I meet think I’d be a great boyfriend...for someone else.

Does the Switch year-in-review site not work for European accounts? I'm only getting a generic "Learn more about Nintendo Switch" prompt. I want to see how deep my rabbit hole goes.

I’m taking a course in programming (Python). I’m a complete noob, but I decided to have some fun with it.

It’s interesting how quickly a date invitation changes from “This seems like a nice message” to “Oh god, that’s the worst thing I could’ve said” the moment you press Send.

Hot take: card games in videogames suck. I have no idea what the tactics of Joustus are supposed to be or how to stop snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, and I don't much care when I could be going around pirouetting enemies instead.

Today at the supermarket self-checkout: "Excuse me, this product doesn't have a barcode, what do you want me to do?" "It's okay sir, you can just take it." So all you checkout people are hereby officially on notice: it is free if it doesn't scan!

So after years of seeing jokes and references about Bob Ross, basically absorbing it through cultural osmosis, today I decided to actually look up some videos to watch in full. Verdict: this is legitimately the most wholesome thing I've ever seen.

I bought my own recurve bow two weeks ago. It’s doing pretty good work for me!

Today’s edition of the ComicCon haul was brought to you by Pokémon. I really dig Sirfetch’d riding Galarian Ponyta, and the Dratini Martini. Lucio is here because his VA was a guest, but I unfortunately just missed the opportunity to have him sign it

Any Pokémon Shield player wanna figure out Link Trading and give me a Galarian Ponyta for a Galarian Farfetch'd? I still don't know all of the version exclusives (I don't even know all the Pokémon yet, period), but I do know I want that Little Pony.

I'm walking around with a bunch of Pokes that seem very Magikarp-ish. I'm still dragging them now and they're taking their sweet time to evolve, but hopefully they'll be worth it in the end. I like my blind run, but not knowing when (if) stuff evolves...

This is probably the first Pokémon game I've gone into more or less blind. It's quite the experience! Several moments already of "Ooooh, I don't know what you are but you're gonna be my new buddy, aren't you?"

Super tired from work this week. I've got an article finished now, and I'm sending it in tomorrow. After that, no matter its faults....I just want to catch some damn critters.

*Fi-re, fi-re, psycho soldieeer! Fi-re, fi-re, psy-cho sol-dieeeeeeeeer!*

Visiting my mom and sister, and I arrive to the news that my mom has a new boyfriend, and my sister has her first boyfriend. This leaves me the only single in the family, and having to deal with two new men who’ll want to come over for Christmas. Fun.

A Terry who can do all the combos and cancels well is damn strong. The CPU can cancel his Neutral A -> A combo into "Are you okay?" and it suuuuuuuuuucks.

Ring Fit is much too good at incentivizing doing exercises you hate. Lord knows I don't want to do planking, but it's also the strongest multi-target move I have...

Digging Luigi's Mansion 3 so far. It feels like the perfect middle ground between Dark Moon and the original. The only gripe I have is that the Ghost Slam doesn't feel as satisfying as sucking them up. ...I'm saying I'd rather suck ghosts than pound them.

I rather enjoy that Luigi now officially owns the ghost dog.

“Your sweat is so shiny and beautiful!” ...Thanks, Ring, that’s...nice?

Just came back from Joker. This movie unsettles me the same way some messed-up internet communities unsettle me. There is very real, legitimate and valid hurt there, but then repugnant mental gymnastics turn it into the most malicious possible thing.

A new friend just sent me this with the message “It’s pretty nasty, but I’m sending it anyway to test the limits of your humor.” Clearly she’s never been to Destructoid.

Just got back from Boardgame Night that had all my workfriends there! ...and also a new workfriend who doesn't like boardgames, decided it was a drinking night instead, and proceeded not to take anything at all seriously. Fun?

The best part about Link’s Awakening is that in the credits music they [SPOILERS]*. Also, Ballad of the Wind Fish has never sounded better. Sing it, little Marin.

It may have been a mistake to do my second playthrough of Three Houses with the Blue Lions. I'd rather kick post-timeskip Dimitri in the shins than interact with him in any other way.

This line perfectly encapsulates why I love Link's Awakening so much. It's the most self-aware the Zelda series has ever been. It's great!

About ShadeOfLightone of us since 7:43 AM on 07.16.2010

The Dutch one, Grand Marshal of the Nintendo Defense Force, heckler of GajKnight, and zen personified; I am ShadeOfLight, one of your Community Managers .

I'm a Dutch law PhD who loves to play the vidya. I'm a Nintendo-fanboy at heart, and I could play Zelda games continuously from now until the end of time. I also used to be on the Cblog Recaps team for Thursdays, and I did that for 4 whole years.

Next to Zelda I'm also obsessed with the Monolith Soft RPGs Xenoblade Chronicles and the Baten Kaitos series. I will not pass up the opportunity to mention them, ever, and I consider myself to be Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean's biggest fan. I'm fairly certain Monolith Soft exists specifically to make me happy.

Being the good Nintendo fanboy that I am, the Switch is the new love of my life. I'm on a steady course of turning it into a Nintendo + Indies machine, as Iwata intended.

Even a list of my favorite games across all platforms will be dominated by Nintendo and indie, with a few wild cards here and there.

Besides gaming itself, I like reading up on gaming-related news on my favorite website in the whole wide world: Destructoid. I'm pretty much here all the time. I love all the people here, and I'm glad that I get to be a part of this whole thing. Wouldn't know what to do without you!

And it turns out you guys love me too!
I've had some blogs promoted:
- Because VIDEOGAMES!
- Digital Property: Entering the Third Age
- Better with Age: Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Waifu Wars: Midriff or Bust
- And posted as The Wombat: 2014: I want to make love to you. Seriously.
