Featuring Mega Man 3 and Killing Joke.
Greetings fellow game music lovers,
January is done halfway and we are still with Mega Man 3 from 1990. Today we feature the theme from the stage of Gemini Man, the always duplicating robot who lives in an alien-like world ( and who, according to the databook, is a narcissist and gravingly afraid of snakes):
The first candidate is the song "Chop Chop" by the british punk band "Killing Joke" from their third album "Revelations" from 1982. Around the three-and-a-half minute mark, the backing suddenly changes to something that has a strong rhythmic similarity to the beginning of the Gemini Man song:
This fits with the general rock music theme of the series. They have another song, "Have A Nice Day", which also has it at some point so it seems to be a recurring thing for them.
Then we have another UK prog rock band from 1970, the band "Clear Blue Sky" with their self titled debut album, which includes the song "You Mystify", which has a section around the 4 minute mark with a rhythm of strong structural resemblance:
Fun fact: The Magma Dragoon stage theme from Mega Man X4 (1997) contains a remix of the Gemini Man theme:
Do you think Gemini Man was insulted when he found out about the Mega Man copy robots?
Wednesday more Mario.
Phil out.
