Phils Game Music Similarities #31 Oh Du Lieber Mario

Greetings fellow game music lovers,

today we have a look at two samples from the popular puzzle game "Dr. Mario". Basically, the two samples you will hear most often if you play the game with a friend: I-showered-a-combo-on-someone and Someone-set-me-up-the-combo. If you are me, mostly the latter case:

The first one is from the well-known "Flea Waltz", an infamous piano beginner piece with unknown origin and compositor:

The second one is a little bit trickier, mostly because I have heard it pretty often as part of other sequences but rarely completely standalone. For now, I have chosen two examples: The first is the jazz song  "A Little White Gardenia" by Al Bowlly (1935) whose first 5 seconds have a certain reminiscense:

Alternatively, you could use the first six notes of the german folk song "Oh du lieber Augustin" (ca. 1679):

Phil ist hin! Aus!

Update 01/05/2020: Appearently, the english tune Did You Ever See a Lassie? has the same melody.
