A week before Monster Hunter: World's release, I think back on my time with the series. While the stellar demo of 4U was certainly a huge factor to getting me into the game, I don't think I'd have dove as deep as I have if it weren't for my friends. Specifically, one friend of mine noticed I was posting about MonHun on Facebook and invited me to a ragtag guild composed of his friends called the Sunsnug Island Panapticon.
I only recently looked up what the hella panapticon is. It's a sort of Greek style prison has a centralized design so the warden can always see every cell at all times from his central position. I guess it fits because Sunsnug Island, from 4U, is a very open and centralized area. But really I think he only uses the word because it was a huge and hilarious word for the guild.
Through the guild I met a lot of new friends, and came away with a lot of tips and lessons from my veteran hunters. I'd ocassionally join them for impromptu gatherings to hunt difficult monsters and take on difficult quests. I got a lot of help hunting the likes of Rajang and Deviljho with their help, especially since a few of them were key quests involved with some progression.
Do you have any similar stories of getting into games thanks to friends inviting you to play with them? Perhaps a friend wanted to get you to join in with a fighting game or a team shooter. Share them moments in the comments below, and I'll try to get it onto the FP within the weekend, just in time for two big game releases, Monster Hunter: World and Dragonball FighterZ!
