Cycle Across Kanto – A Pokémon Documentary Kickstarter

   0

I was recently contacted by Stephen ”Smoovies” Aymond of Find the Computer Room fame(?). He's a guy who makes funny Let's Plays and sometimes even quality reviews. There are even stories of him making ”Sonic Movies” once upon a time, but those claims remain unproven.

He wanted me to tell people about the Kickstarter campaign he's running from now until late Januari 2018, so let's go!

[I'm bumping this since the campaign only has a few days left!]

Cycle Across Kanto

As should be quite known by now, the different regions of the Pokémon games draw direct inspiration the real world. Be it Hawaii or France, the games always make an effort to feature elements from cool places.

The first generation of Pokémon took place in a region called Kanto, modeled after the south-eastern Kanto region of Japan. The similarities are quite eerie.

With there being such a clear connection between the two Kantos, Stephen and his team wants to bike through all the major parts of Red's Pokémon journey in 40 days and document all the locations that served as inspiration for the games. They intend to learn about the history of these places and the people that live there now. The result will be a fully produced professional documentary that'll be showcased during film festivals before getting released for free in early 2019.

It's a great concept for a documentary and they need nice chunk of change to make it happen, hence the campaign. The goal is $132k, for reasons outlined in this handy chart:

For backer rewards, there's copies of the movie, the OST, posters, a t-shirt, choosing a line of dialogue, chatting with the crew and THE production book.

Stretch goals include subtitles in a bunch of languages and adding the Sevii islands from Fire Red and Leaf Green to the trip. And if $340k gets raised, they'll even add the Chubu and Kinki regions which inspired Johto!

The team consists of a diverse set of determined filmmakers with 35 years of shared experience between them ready to bike across the Japanese countryside.

And just to sweeten the deal, Mike Pollock, the current narrator for the Pokémon show as well as current voice of Dr. Eggman will serve as the documentary's narrator for that authentic feel.

If you want to see this project flourish, head to the Kickstarter page and give them the funding they deserve!

- Welcome to my world, Enjoy your stay, But always remember, There is no return.

About Kerrik52one of us since 3:12 AM on 02.28.2016

Greetings, one and all. I'm known as Kerrik52 around these parts and I think I'm pretty swell, for a Swedish dude.

I love all games, except the bad ones. I play games when possible, thinking I'll eventually break into heaven. I'm currently studying computer science.

I have written some blogs here exploring old games by From Software with more to come later. Not to mention my salty bitch series on the Souls-games.

I also have a little Youtube channel bearing my name that mostly contains videos related to my blogs.

I some games I love are:

Dark Souls
God Hand
Resident Evil 4
Tales of Eternia
Kingdom Hearts
Jak & Daxter
King's Field
Devil May Cry
Legacy of Kain
Shadow Hearts
Spyro
Ys
Shin Megami Tensei
Resistance
Patapon
Legend of Heroes
Yakuza
Locoroco
Ape Escape

I have a very low standard for movies, but I have some favorites. These include:

Coraline
Tintin
The Secret Life of Walter Witty
Pooh's Grand Adventure
Scott Pilgrim VS the World

The last TV shows I watched were House, Mythbusters and Fringe.

Anime on the other hand, is something I watch often. I like:

Symphogear
Jojo
Gonna Be the Twintail
Nichijou
WIXOSS
Black Rock Shooter
Nobunagun
Airmaster
Fist of the Northstar

I don't read very much anymore, but I like Asimov and Lovecraft.

Music-wise I'm an apostle of Dio and the German power metal scene. Other favorites include:

Gamma Ray
Iron Savior
Freedom Call
Dreamtale
Axel Rudi Pell
Edguy
Avantasia

Go ahead and share a piece of your world with me and I'll pay back in kind. Don't be deterred if I answer you in a wall of text though. I despise unfulfilling writing and will do all it takes to make my points.
